WHO SHOULD BE TRAINED IN HIPAA?
Anyone who will have access to protected health information should receive at least a basic HIPAA training. This includes but is not limited to, all staff, treatment providers, student observers, temporary employees, etc.
What if a staff member needs to be re-trained in HIPAA and has already completed Audantia’s training modules?
No problem! Our training modules can be re-taken as many times as needed by each user for the duration of your membership
May I call you if I have HIPAA questions?
Our goal at Audantia is to offer products that are not just valuable but also as complete as we can make them. With that in mind we wrote the reference guide and recorded the training videos to answer all possible questions that we could answer if you were to directly ask us. But there will always be gray areas that may need clarification. If you still have further questions, it is best to contact a local attorney who knows both federal and state HIPAA law and can help you navigate and balance between the two.
HIPAA doesn’t bring in customers or income, however, if done wrong it can cost you both
IS EVERYTHING BACKED UP WITH LEGAL STATUTES?
HIPAA was written in 1996, updated with the HITECH Act in 2005 and updated again with the Omnibus in 2013. However, there are quite a few areas that have remained undiscussed, especially as new technologies have become more common place. To help, HHS has given guidance on quite a few areas, and we include that information wherever it is appropriate. However, there are still areas of HIPAA that lack specific statutes or guidance and for those areas we rely on what has become best practices among compliance experts. For instance, it is always a best practice to contact an attorney for ANY areas of HIPAA that you feel unsure of how to handle appropriately.
Will my membership guarantee my HIPAA compliance?
Simple answer – No. Third-party entities who are not directly involved in your clinic can not guarantee your clinic’s HIPAA compliance, this includes membership with Audantia. Your compliance is reliant upon your creating HIPAA policies and procedures appropriate for your clinic’s location and implementing those policies and procedures into the day-to-day activities of your clinic.
Do you offer memberships for large healthcare facilities, health plans and clearing houses?
At this time Audantia focuses its knowledge base on HIPAA areas specific to small clinics. We do not cover HIPAA statutes for large healthcare facilities, health plans, or clearing houses.
Do you cover state HIPAA laws?
Currently Audantia does not cover state HIPAA laws. It is your responsibility to be aware of the laws of the state that govern the location of your clinic or clinics. In situations where state law differs from federal law it is a best practice to speak to your legal counsel or state association for guidance.
